Director's Note

While Texas is slowly teasing us with mid-90s autumn weather, our NESA Cinema/Film students are heading northeast to catch a real taste of fall—and a major milestone!

This Wednesday, some of our film students are hopping on a plane with Ms. Villarreal and me to New York City for the All American High School Film Festival, the world’s largest student film festival. Out of thousands of international submissions, an incredible eight NESA films were officially selected for screening!

As if that were not exciting enough, our team is also competing in the festival's high-stakes Invitational Competition. The challenge? Our students will shoot, edit, and finalize a complete short film from scratch in just 2 to 3 days right on the streets of New York. To see their creativity put to the test under pressure—and to know their hard work will be screened in the middle of Times Square alongside our festival selections—is a true testament to the brilliant, dedicated artists we have here at NESA.

Please wish our students safe travels, boundless inspiration, and—above all—some much-deserved rest once the final edit is turned in!

I am so proud of these young filmmakers and cannot wait to share updates with you upon our return. Keep an eye on our socials for quick updates.
