Director's Note

Stepping into the Danger Zone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week! One of the absolute highlights of my job is watching our young artists push their boundaries, step out of their comfort zones, and collaborate across disciplines. Today, I am thrilled to share a peek at one of our most dynamic upcoming traditions: the Creative Writing Cross-Major Show.

This year’s theme, handpicked by our very own Coen, is… DANGER.

(Coen... please tell me the only real danger here is having our jaws hit the floor from sheer awe! COEEEEENNNNNN!!!)

Jokes and feigned terror aside, this show is a true masterclass in collaborative artistry. Our Creative Writing students lead the charge with their brilliant original poetry, scripts, and short stories. But the magic doesn't stop on the page. To fulfill the spirit of the cross-major showcase, our writers pair up with talented students from across NESA and beyond to bring their words to life in full sensory color.

When you join us for the show, your senses are in for a feast. You might watch a visual artist paint a canvas live onstage as a poem is recited, or see our actors bring a brand-new student-written script to life. You might witness a dancer interpreting a story through movement, or hear a original musical score composed by an instrumentalist specifically to mirror the cadence of a writer's prose.

The level of talent, depth, and genuine emotion that blooms onstage during these collaborations is astonishing. If there is any true "danger" in this show, it is simply the vulnerability and raw passion our students bring to the stage—and perhaps the risk of running out of tissues.

We cannot wait to share this incredible evening of multidisciplinary art with you. Head over to booktix (linked on Friday and Saturday below) to get your tickets. Hurry as CW shows have been selling out. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering support of our brilliant student creators!
