Director's Note
As we approach Spring Break, I find myself reflecting on how much this community means to me. There is a specific energy within these halls—a mix of creativity, grit, and heart—that makes NESA more than just a school. You are all truly Amazing Humans, and I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside our talented directors and support our wonderful students and families.
Keeping Our Community Whole
I want to speak to you from the heart, educator to family. I have been in this profession for a long time, and sadly, I have sat through more student funerals than any teacher should ever have to attend. I don't say this to cast a shadow on your holiday, but to emphasize why your safety is my absolute priority.
Spring Break is a high-risk time on our roads. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
Traffic fatalities in the U.S. typically increase significantly during spring break weeks.
A high percentage of these accidents involve distracted driving or speed.
For drivers under 25, the risk of a serious accident increases when traveling in groups.
My humble request to you is simple: Please, be as safe as you can possibly be. Whether you are driving across town or flying across the globe, keep your eyes on the road, look out for one another, and make choices that ensure you return to us. My goal is for every single one of you to walk back through our doors happy, healthy, and well-rested.
Adventures Near and Far
I am so excited for the journeys many of you are embarking on!
Dance is taking a bite out of the Big Apple in New York City.
Musical Theatre is heading across the pond to London. (I truly hope we have a blast, but avoid the "worst pies in London!")
Whether you are hitting the ski slopes, lounging on a beach, or discovering new hidden gems right here in San Antonio, I want to see your adventures! Please share your photos with us—seeing your smiles and your "jaunts" brings so much joy to our office.
Looking Ahead: After the Break
Once we return and find our rhythm again, keep an eye out for information regarding:
Summer PE: Details for our underclassmen looking to get ahead.
Seniors: Information on Signing Day, as well as how to purchase stoles and alumni t-shirts. (I’ll admit I’m not ready to let you go just yet!)
Please take this time to unplug, breathe, and create memories. We will be right here waiting for you when you get back.
