Director's Note

The Sound of Silence

Oh, how the mighty have fallen... into a silent abyss of "normal" hallways! Your awkward director, Askey here, and let me tell you, the PAC (Performing Arts Center) without you all is just... well, it's just a PAC. I wander through, longing for the sweet strains of a Dvoล™รกk piano concerto, the lively chatter of Creative Writing students brewing their next masterpiece, or the triumphant arpeggios echoing from our incredible Musical Theater students. It's a ghost town of genius, and frankly, it's giving me the artistic equivalent of the shivers.

And don't even get me started on the Film and Art Basement. It used to be a vibrant kaleidoscope of creativity, a chaotic symphony of paint, film reels, and brilliant ideas. Now? It's just... a hallway. A regular, plain, utterly uninspiring hallway! My artistic soul weeps.

NESA truly is NADA without our phenomenal staff and the vibrant energy of our students. I miss each and every one of you, and I am counting down the days until our halls are once again brimming with your talent, your laughter, and your glorious, beautiful noise. We're going to make some amazing art together, and I, for one, cannot wait to have you back soon!

Join the "pARTners": Your Tribe Awaits!

Speaking of getting back to normal, there's no better time to become a part of our incredible student/parent/teacher alliance, aptly named "pARTners"! For just $20 a year, you can join a group that does so much good for our NESA family.

The pARTners are the unsung heroes behind the scenes, making magic happen. They provide classroom grants to each department, ensuring our students have the resources they need to shine. They organize the fantastic year-end NESA banquet, a well-deserved celebration of all your hard work. They even offer individual scholarships (and yes, you do have to be a pARTners member to apply for these โ€“ just sayin'!). Plus, they lend a hand with show meals, costumes, and a whole lot more.

But here's the secret sauce: the pARTners are also an invaluable resource for YOU! Being an arts parent isn't always a walk in the park. Lessons, scholarships, applications, concerts... it can be a whirlwind! With the pARTners, you're not just joining a group; you're joining a family. A family that not only "gets it" but has also walked in your shoes and can offer guidance, support, or just a listening ear.

Ready to connect? Head over to https://www.nesapartners.net/ to sign up or get more information. The pARTners are a wonderfully energetic bunch, but they're not pushy. They'll only ask for what you're willing to give, whether it's supplies for concessions, your time as a backstage mom or dad, a few batteries, help with show meals, or simply a smile and a wave. They truly are a beautiful, supportive community, and we'd love for you to be a part of it.

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!

This is the very first newsletter of the 2025-2026 school year, and we're so excited to kick things off! If you know someone who'd love to stay in the loop with all things NESA, please feel free to forward this newsletter on. They can sign up to have it sent directly to their inbox, ensuring they never miss a beat.

I'll be sending the first few newsletters out via Blackboard as well, but I'll limit that soon. I know as parents you get bombarded with a lot through Blackboard, and I certainly don't want to be invasive or overwhelming. Our goal is to keep you informed, not inundated! And if you're a parent of a NESA graduate and no longer wish to receive these updates, you can easily unsubscribe at any time.
